The cap and bolt are the only two parts that I am aware of.

on top of the headset bolt and cap??? There is nothing on top of that unless you have a special type of headset or something.

Some headsets have piece of rubber that covers the allen bolt hole, are you talking about that?

A picture could help...

I think you are talking about the little plastic plug that fits in on top of the headset bolt, right?

I'd like to get a small supply of these in 5 and 6mm sizes.

For some old bolts, it would be nice not to see the rust in the allen bolt hole. For newer bolts, it's annoying to see a small puddle in the bolt head that you know will ultimately lead to rust.

I've thought about filling the bolt head with something waterproof but gooey, but it seems like that would be annoying when do actually want to adjust the bolt.

I know I sound fairly anal here, but really I'm not. :) It's just that the puddle can cause a bolt to have a premature life.

The bolt is likely 5 mm.. so you need a hole plug for 5mm. The depth of mine is 3 mm... but I'm not sure where to source them. I'll look around.

my problem is the headset on my new bike doesn't have a long bolt on the outside. the top cap itself is threaded so theres an allen key hole in the middle of it that could easily let water into its innards. that's why i'm looking for a nice plug to cover it up and for aesthetics of course :)

If you can accurately measure the outside diameter of the hole, and the depth that you want the plug... you could probably find something here:

http://www.caplugs.com/productdetails.aspx?id=1000021&itemno=PIP+SERIES

EDIT.. I might have got ahead of myself. The smallest plug on that site is slightly over 5mm (which I'm guessing is what you need).. but the smallest depth is closer to 6mm. It really depends on the outside diameter and depth of the hole you are trying to plug.

EDIT 2:

Something like this is what you are after, but this site only has "natural" color...

Just cut a piece of cork, paint it black with a market and done. Sure you have a ton of rubbery stuff that can be used to cover the hole.

When i was a kid i used cork as a handlebar end plugs because i did not have money to buy the real stuff.
