i've always been a fan of specialized accessories. these tires intrigue me, and look like they might be a great dirt road typed tire. the roubaix pro.

they come in sizes:

-23/35
-25/28

i obviously have no idea what that means in terms of real tire width. if anyone has access to these in a shop, or wherever and can get a read on the width, especially the larger tire, it would be great. they look promising to me.

There's a large Specialized dealer here in CLT. I can check them out this weekend if you're interested.

There's something nearby, so I'll try to swing by and report back on that for you, hopefully by this weekend.

My barber's in the same shopping center. I was going to swing by on Saturday. I usually walk through just to see what Specialized has cooking these days. (I like their helmets and little else).

Slightly OT,

I was reading a few reviews earlier on the Schwalbe Sammy Slick for dirt and gravel riding. Good reviews for dirt and pavement.

I have them on a bike but they rub my chain stays. Do you want me to measure them? I have them mounted to Fulcrum racing ones. If you are interested I would be willing to trade for something smaller.

i'd love for you to measure...and we could probably work something out.

I know you are interested in the larger tires. But for whatever it's worth the 23/25's run bigish -- about 25. I think I have had two sets. After I replaced them with 23's, the tires seemed skinny! An LBS guy once told me they run big. Very nice tires by the way. Supple and durable.

I am fairly sure you can order online directly from Specialized. But it is full MSRP.

Angry I didn't get a chance to measure last night but I just realized that you wanted the larger size. I have the 23/25. I can still measure them if you like. I can tell you from experience that they do run big. I have them on my Parlee which has accepted 25's from Vittoria and Conti with no rubbing, on the same wheel. These are too close to the drive side stay for me to run as I already know they are going to rub. They also rubbed on the inside to the crown on my supersix fork. The clearance on that fork is tight. I only run a Vitt pave 24 on it now.

If you are interested there is a well known shop in Millburn that can take care of the order for you. Tell John that James sent you in.

Angry, I don't remember where you are in north NJ but Marty's Reliable is a big Specialized dealer. He has three locations - Morristown, Randolph and Hackettstown.

from what i understand, the 23/25 designation mans it's a 23 tread on a 25 casing. same for the 25/28, 25 rubber on a 28 casing.

according to a bikerumor blurb (http://www.bikerumor.com/2012/07/11/2013-specialized-wheels-tires-aero-disc-road-budget-carbon-29er-mtb-more/) (scroll down a ways) and whatever Specialized marketing told them, "The odd sizing match up keeps the nimbleness of a narrow tread but the improved comfort and rolling resistance of a larger casing"

as for what they measure out to, break out the calipers at a dealer. i'm curious as well...

They had some road clincher models like this (25/23) in the past and, they had mixed reviews (inconsistent feel transitioning between straight ahead and hard cornering, durability, etc). The later models were improved and were actually good tires with a nice feel, and good performance and durability. I don't think they were very popular though, and Specialized discontinues products that don't sell well very quickly.

Here are the measurements from my bike for the 23/25 Roubaix model. These are mounted on fulcrum racing ones at 110 psi

Brake track width of rim: 21.82
Tire max width: 27.05
Tire height: 27.06

For comparison I measured a vitt 24 pave on an eurus wheel@ 110 psi
Brake track width: 21.825
Tire width: 26.00
Tire height: 25.00
