I hadn't had a Twinkie in over a decade and didn't want one until they were gone. I'll probably eat one when they return.

Who the heck are these people?????

Apollo is a huge private equity firm with lots of experience making companies run efficiently. Dean Metropoulos has a long history turning around branded food companies.

I have seen the pitch by these guys. Very interesting.

Leon Black, founded Apollo....

Two months after the May 2012 anonymous purchase of one of four versions of Edvard Munch's The Scream, The Wall Street Journal reported that Black had been the one who had paid $119.9 million for the pastel, the highest price ever paid for a work of art at auction.[6] In September 2012, The Museum of Modern Art announced the painting would go on view for a six-month period starting in October.[7]

He also donated $48 Million to Dartmouth for a visual arts center...

In other words, if he was into custom bikes, he could probably single handedly support the entire industry, or atleast make waitlists for every builder 5+ years.

I met him in person a few years back, and can safely say that he did not appear to be much of a cyclist.

OPTION 1: That's funny (not the part about Apollo being a huge PE firm, which is correct). I've done work for Apollo and they know how to make lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots and lots etc. of $$. I'll leave it at that.

OPTION 2: FIFY: Apollo is a huge private equity firm with lots of experience making their LPs lots of $$ (and themselves even more).

It would save me a chunk of change if I liked Twinkies.

The new owners will be Apollo Global Management and Metropoulos & Company, which owns Pabst Blue Ribbon and Vlasic pickles. C. Dean Metropoulos, the food industry veteran who leads the firm that bears his name, is expected to become the chief executive of the snack business....
For his part, Daren Metropoulos said that he and his family would sample some new batches of Hostess product — “and probably crack open a cold P.B.R.”

Hipster Metropoulos. Drinking PBR and eating twinkies before you.

I just lost a lot of respect for him. Vlasic is a joke, those fluorescent green limp excuses for a pickle, they're barely edible. Clausen pickles are so much better.
