Geared.

Hi Boz. Welcome! The Luigino is a great bike and a beautiful bike. So I think it should be used to push the limits of its potential and versatility which means geared.

So give us details. What colors?

Geared.

Looks nice, but you're going to be riding it more than looking at it (I hope).

Unless you really like riding fixed, I'd go geared. That's just me.

Go geared man. And let Dario decide on the paint for you. Ciavete...Dario's choice. This is the only way to go. He will not let you down. Give him some ideas and let him work his magic.

what other bikes do you have? hard to say how to build the luigino unless we know what other bikes you have. maybe a fixie/SS is the missing piece?

Boz

I dont have any other bikes...one pegoretti is enough at those prices. I used have a singlespeed (not a fixie) road bike which i liked very much. i also had a Marin Mountain bike but my off road days are over :)

I love the Ciavete finish, but on any other bike in the line up besides the Luigino. The Luigino is a tribute to Mr. Milani, Dario's mentor and that is why the classic finish.

Geared.

Is Dario painting the forks to match the frame now? Or is that something that would have to be specifically requested?

Get a geared version, you could still build it with a fixed rear wheel (eno, etc) and it'll be 90% as slick looking as a dedicated pista, but then you can put gearz on if necessary.

This. If your only road bike get the versatility.

That's a dream bicycle for me.

Geared for me. That's my vote.

It would be suitable for a wide range of riding opportunities.

I'm 55 and I don't feel like blowing a lung every time I see a decent grade.

It's what you want. i did the same thing when I ordered my Hampsten Ti Paradiso. Originally ordered geared, about half way through my wait I decided what I really wanted and went pista with total road geometery. I couldn't be happier with my decision. Good luck.

Is it a pista frame or road/geared frame? That answers your question.

Only 4 months? You must know somebody. Is the question whether or not it is to built as a fixie or geared bike? A fixie Peg, YGBSM..Pista, as in on the track is one thing but please not a fixie Pegoretti.

Luigino is a lifetime bike. Make it geared so you can ride it a lifetime.

Luigino deserves venetian panels. With ciavete, there is also a certain element of "surprise me" choose that if you don't mind being surprised. However, now that venetian is here, I think that is the best choice for that model. it is the most classic albeit the ciavete is the most dario

Does Dario offer S&S couplers as an option on his frames?

Lanterne Rouge

I've often thought about going 1 x 10 on a road bike. That way all you have to do is get a second rear wheel and bob's your uncle and fanny's your aunt you have both worlds (but perhaps not the best of both).

1 x 9 or 10 (or 11 even) would work for me as I live in the, relatively, flat NYC.

Currently I have an adult sized crankset (none of this compact nonsense) and I could live with once ring only that's between the two. SRAM have the climbers kit which I believe 11 x 32 rear cog and that coupled with a 46 or 48 upfront (shimano CX70?) is going to give you plenty on gears. You can get brake levers from SRAM that match the brifters so it can all be matchy matchy also.

I'm somewhat jealous of your first world problems. Also any mention of Peg's requires photos........just sayin'.

It indicates the date of manufacture. It's indicated by the saint of that day. This info is in Dario's thread across the hall: Here. (http://www.velocipedesalon.com/forum/f22/pegoretti-cicli-24544-16.html#post421701)

Enjoy your bike, and post up some pics. I've always thought Pegs were great looking bikes.

Dude bikes are uber replaceable, 3yo girls are not. Every bike, computer, and car I own has my daughters mark. The first thing you see when you come into my office is one of my daughters pictures.

I got a new $5600 Mac Pro delivered not all that long ago and my wife and daughter were watching me unpack it, my daughter said daddy can I put a sticker on it like I have on my computer? Hello Kitty went right on the side that faces me.

What else can you say other than absolutely honey? All this stuff comes off but IMHO the idea that you are her's 100% is irreplaceable.
