I just got this via email, it shows specs for the 80th anniversary ed Campy group.

It's mechanical, and it has Ultra-Torque cranks, which I find interesting.

Where are the red emblems on the cassette and chain? I would bite if the gruppo had hand sanded medallions. :)

This was from the announcement http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppv75hLPJ-A
$3765 for the group. About $485 more than regular Super Record. Wheels are additional.

I'd order it, but I think Alloy 10sp is much better looking

GAH! my brain was somewhere else...Of course it is UT.
An Alloy Athena version might be interesting, as long as they kept the red out of it.

Where is the belt buckle?

Or better to keep with the times? Limited edition Iphone case?

I may have to sell a kidney... I'm really glad it's mechanical.

Oh man. If I bought this I wouldn't even use it. I would leave it in its box and drool over it in a display case.

Ordered one, gonna stay in the case, on display, just like the 50th did...

I know all the detractotrs, but so what. Probably won't be alive for the 100th anniversary.

I got a question about this;

If bikes are tools and meant to be ridden, ie...not wall art.

Then why is a 80th set art? Even the date seems strange to me.
Did they miss the 75th, so they are trying to make up time?

I would think that a 25th, 50th, and 75th would be in order!

Not passing judgement, as I have stuff that should be used as art also!

But I have read on this forum and others, as well as nearly all the builders at the Nahbs show that bikes were meant to be ridden.
So why make this collectable? besides the fact that you want to!
That is a given and as long as you can afford it, and want to use it as art, why not!
