My beloved Colnago Master Bititan (AD-10 decor) has developed a crack. While I know this is not an uncommon occurance with this particular design, it is a personal favorite and I am trying to find a way to keep it on the road. Does anyone know of a builder that will undertake a repair of this magnitude or am I destined to hang it on the wall?

Thanks in advance,

TCrush

Hi Tcrush,
I think you're out of luck. The Bititan is a 6/4 russian alloy, and I doubt anyone will take the risk of welding it.
Incidentally it is also one of my favourites, we have 3 in the family...

What size is it?

I hope you're wrong, but suspect not. Based on my measurements, it's a "Colnago 63". It does not have the extended headtube, as it came with a threaded precisa fork, but does have the seat tube extension you usually see on Freuler-style Colnagos.

Dave Levy at Ti Cycles has repaired a number of the Bititan Colnagos in the past. You can reach Dave at titaniumdave@msn.com or 503 621 9670.

Good luck!

If Dave K says that Carl Strong may be able to fix it, I'd get right on the phone...

In the past, I believe Matt Chester has done Ti repair also.

Given how far behind schedule he appears to be, he's probably not taking on any new work, but you never know...
