At first glance these look like a good competitor to Cannondale's Hollowgram. Does anyone know a bit more about the quality of these or reputation of Kirk or the original designer? I am trying to find the specs but they are not up on his lugs website. Below is the article that raised my interest.

Sort of still up in the air. Those are not in full production yet, so we'll have to wait and see. They are based on the older sweet wings, which were welded ti or cro mo, I forget. So, the interface is really the only thing being used from those days.

Start looking here:

The guy who developed this crank did the EE brakes. Those are the lightest, best performing, and ugliest brakes to ever hit the scene. They are awesome, and uber weight weenie while still performing, but U-G-L-Y.

These cranks he has been showing in one form or another for about 5 years. They have been the "hot" "it" "we cannot wait till these hit the street" thing for years. Every Sea Otter or NAHBS someone has a "prototype" or "pre production sample" with production imminent, but it never happened. Seriously hyped year after year for several years.

I would guess that this crank finally may appear in the real world now, and I assume it will be stiff, light, and U-G-L-Y. It says he is having Praxis work on his rings/teeth- they make excellent chainrings.

Fariwheel bikes included pre production versions in their crank roundups and consistently found this one light and stiff,

I think most people should stick to the crank that comes with their groupset, and the Cannondale SISL2 is hard to beat for BB30.

Aftermarket people will be looking at the carbon THM M3 crankset and this one as an alloy alternative.

I think this crank may have taken over the world if introduced on time in 2008, but at this point others have caught up and functional-ugly may not be as popular aesthetically.

Pacenti has impeccable credentials in the industry from designing to building. With Kirk on board, these will be on the market this year, jmo.

It is an awesome crank. Pricey, but swank. BCD Interchangeability, etc. Nicely finished, not what one might expect for that kind of money, but in that realm I suppose that's not the point. It's all about weight, and is entirely handmade/finished. Fairwheel is the best place to get 'em in US.

Is the Cannondale SI/SISL interchangeable in terms of BCD?

The only other crank I know of that affords that is Specialized S-Works crank and the THM M3.

Yes. Campy as well and then there are the Spiderings. Supposedly made by Praxis.

cool. thanks for the info.

i just picked up a bb30 frame and am eyeing the si/sisl cranks. way outta budget but oh so nice.

my arm might get twisted if i could just pick up the arms w/compact spider for a decent price, since i've already got xtra compact rings.

does the cannondale require specific rings or will they take, for example, shimano or fsa compact rings?

If you get the right size spider, it will run your rings.

Now that the SISL2 is the belle of the ball, I bet you can pick up the older SI or SISL models for a song, and they ROCK.

I understand that FSA is Cannondale's supplier for SISL rings. I see no reason why standard FSA or Shimano rings would not work. Lots of folks upgraded their SISL cranks with Praxis rings.
