Here is the deal, I have edited, cut, pasted and generally cobbled together a nice digital map showing all of the dirt roads I have ridden and pieced together in very southern Rensselaer and Columbia Counties. These roads are magnificent, think D2R2, and I would like to be able to share this map. However, the file is big, a little over 18MB. I can't cut down on the file size without losing clarity needed to read it well. I thought I could use my verizon fios to create a free website but that is limited to 10MB. I really don't want to pay to be able to share this map.

Help/Ideas appreciated, thanks in advance.

Mike

Skydrive :)

Any of the above options are good, but I mention skydrive because at one time they (microsoft) offered way more space for the money than the compitition. My 25gb account is completely free. I can also use it to edit office files from my ipad.

Thanks, I will look into these and post the map somewhere. I assume that there is some download feature so others can get it. I will let the forum know when done.

Would the file type affect your choice of host?

With Drive you can choose to share or not, by URL.

It is a jpeg file if that matters.

It is a jpeg file if that matters.

In that case, given how common these are, I would not think that file type would affect things.

Lets see if I can pass as computer literate. I chose dropbox because i guess my kids use gmail/google so that created a password problem for me I think. Dropbox seems easy and if I did it correctly this should be a link to the map I made of columbia county dirt roads. https://www.dropbox.com/s/xhlohphorcwnuc9/columbiacountydirt.jpg

The map is a work in progress but if you look you will see that there is a butt load of dirt roads. I have ridden most and other dirt roads I have put on from being able to identify from googleearth. I am sure I have missed some and will modify the map once mistakes are known.

I am always up a ride if anyone wants to check these roads out. Thanks for everyone's help with the site suggestions.

Download it. it's HUGE. 17MB I think. May be too big for your browser to handle. I couldn't see it either. I downloaded and opened with MS Office Image viewr
