Excuse me if this is dumb...
I've never know what the spoke grabbers are for on pedro levers? Why does one need to grab a spoke with these?

If the tire bead is really really tight, I put one lever under the tire and hook it onto the spoke then use a 2nd lever to actually get the tire off.

You must use small OD rims and/or big ID tires. If you had the opposite combination you'd figure out very quickly why they have the little hook on there.

I always hook one on the spoke and then pull the tire off with the other. Vittoria beads are a pain.

Funny, about 20 minutes after I asked I figured it out wrestling with my Campagnolo Neutron with a Conti gp. Neutrons are a bizatch. I agree that Pedro's are the best even before I knew what the spoke grabber was for!

Topeak puts out a pretty decent lever as well.

Michelin makes the best levers (no spoke grabber though)

Pedro's levers are wide and fat, so I see why its a big deal, mainly for loose fitting Mavic rims I presume. For the Neutron/4000S combo that's exactly what you don't want. Lezyne levers are narrow, thin, and the bottom surface which interfaces the rim is flat.

I have a set of Pedro's, I didn't like them. I like my Park ones, they work better for shoveling the last bit of bead over the rim.
