Simply put. Will a shimano metal 105 lever fit on 7900 shifters? This is the next natural phase of a more all metal shimano grouppo.

Thanks, bill

Yes. Now we wait for the forum oracle to share their vast intelligence.

I'm referring to lever and shifter paddle.
I want to take a metal 105 lever and try to put it on a 7900 shifter/ lever. If possible. Shimano a website mentions that the 105 has most traits of 7900

Why not just use the 105 levers? I thought there was no functional difference only fancier materials? Which don't matter if you're doing that swap.

I already own the 7900 shifters/levers and purchased the blue and Boudreaux Hudson for my build. This is a vanity project only......not building a commuter or crit/rain bike

My lbs will call the shimano rep Monday!

Anyone know?

Ya mean taking putting the 105 shifter/brake lever and putting it in a DA body?

Or keeping the shift guts and just replacing the shifter blade and brake lever blade?

Doubt you can do either but you can but some 5700 levers for not that much $.

Goal: shimano shifter metal lever . (Close to trp retro as possible)

Option 1?
Purchase 105 shifters/lever with metal lever. Questions remain is this is too inferior quality comparing to dura ace and/or ultegra? Also I need to change hood cover with hudz. Therefore what size do I order?

Option 2? Or can I just order the metal 105 lever and would that fit on ultegra or dura ace?

Perhaps option 2 would work with ultegra and not dura ace.

I'm confusing myself here. Geez my goal is to install the nicest all metal shimano group that it will allow.

Thanks, bill

Wow! Those do look nice! I had a black pair of them on a bike last year and really liked the way they shifted. I wonder how tough it would be to remove the 105 logo to give them more of a generic appearance?

They should shift fine with a 7700 DA rear derailleur, right?

I have 5700 on my CX bike and 7900 on my race bike. The hood shape is almost exactly the same to my hands. That was by design. I use the same bars on both bikes as well.
