my 705 serves my purposes quite well, but i'm ready to ditch the mount and am looking at the 8xx series.

i'd like to know if it's worth it to buy the 810 or pick up a used 800. any input is appreciated.

fwiw, the only feature lacking in the 705 that i wish for is ambient temperature.

if you are not using the sd card maps = ask yourself what the 810 buys you. Blue tooth, touch screen, and maybe some more sensitive reception as well a HR strap that i am now on my 3rd.

THe warranty dept personnel are responsive but I have replaced two on the 800 already. Never had to on years of using polar.

If Heart Rate is not needed the 800 is a wonderful platform as the 810 probably is. Just my view and not based on anything but me:confused::confused:

The main reason I'm looking at the 810 is the wireless ride upload. Has anyone used it yet and can comment on how seamless it is?

I had the 705, sold that and just bought the 810.. it works really well even with gloved hands MTB.. I hadnt used the 800 but for me the 810 is a HUGE improvement over the 705

I am on my second 800. The Garmin warranty dept is indeed responsive. But I didn't like the fact that they propose to replace a defective 3-month old unit, with a refurbished unit.

Luckily the retailer I bought it from offered to replace it with a brand new unit. I really appreciated this.
