Olgäle Foundation
The Olgäle Foundation steps in when state-funded support reaches its limits. It helps when public assistance is not enough. It contributes to the best possible treatment and care for seriously ill children.
In November 1997, the Olgäle-Stiftung für das kranke Kind e.V., to give the foundation its full name, was founded under the patronage of Carl Herzog von Württtemberg. Its support mainly goes to the Olgahospital, the children’s hospital in Stuttgart known locally simply as “Olgäle”. It helps to make the lives of parents and their sick children, who often suffer from cancer, more bearable. The foundation is funding the reconstruction of waiting areas and kids’ corners to better meet the needs of the children, so they can forget their pain in a friendly environment. The foundation not only provides help through childcare workers and psychologists, but also hires hospital clowns, who bring a little cheerfulness to the wards with their tricks and jokes. The Olgäle Foundation also contributes to the purchase of the modern medical equipment, supports training for doctors, nurses and parents, and promotes research.
Importantly, the Olgäle Foundation also acts as a lobby group for sick children and their parents.
100% of the money received from the bike frame auction will go to the Olgäle Foundation. All the participants in this collaboration between Dario Pegoretti, who once suffered from cancer himself, and the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design wish to support the multifaceted work of the Olgäle Foundation. Perhaps the fact that a donation receipt can be issued for the amount contributed will make the decision to bid in the auction a little easier.

Hand in hand, pen on steel, outstanding frames. When Dario Pegoretti, the world-famous master of the perfectly welded joint, and the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design collaborated to design three frames, the results were unique and exclusive

The Workshop
An enthusiasm for cycling, a commitment to this work, the willingness to learn something new from others and, above all, a determination to help
This is what links Professor Hans-Georg Pospischil’s group at the Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design with Dario Pegoretti, the master designer of high-end, customized racing bike frames. The initial idea about one day spent designing something together eventually became a workshop, about which Pegoretti says: “I felt at home. Being with the students has given me the opportunity to see my work in a new light. I hope that I have satisfied some of their longing for knowledge and discovery and have helped them to interpret the bicycle in a new way. It was truly fantastic.” For days we sat together, thinking, drawing, building and designing. Eventually, the different ideas became merged into a unique work: the comic unfolds on the top tube, the great stages of the world champions decorate the fork and the Indian pattern adorns the head tube. No other racing bike frames make the vital force of inspiration more visible than these.
