No I am not going, as I am practically an indentured servant at this time of year at my J.O.B., but my old man is! He is a retired history teacher and cycling enthusiast and art lover like me. He is flying into Paris on the 17th to then drive over to that little gem of a country, Belgium.
Other than stuffing his face full of mayonnaise covered frites and rare lumps of pave, what else should he do there? I think he is going to Brugge and Ghent and maybe to Verdun. I know there must me a track race going on in Ghent at the velodrome....anyone know how to get a schedule? Is it fun to watch?
Does anyone know of good restaurants, or dive bars? Local beer? Burp...
I appreciate your help!

Yes! I forgot the cyclocross!! I want my father to see what kind of racing I have been up to. I was trying to explain to him why cyclocross racing is so hard, but he just didn't seem to understand!
Merci Cees!!!!

While in Ghent he really should go check out the castle in town - its worth the visit (tourist trap with great history and authentic torture devices, guillotine, etc...)

If he has time to go to Brussels, I know a ton of great little bars. As far as eating is concerned, you can't go wrong in Belgium...

I miss Belgium

is on display at the
Eddy Merckx stop at the end of the Erasmus-Stockel line.
A chance to see The Cannibals bike (or the back up bike?)
built by colnago.
(thanks to CR List for the info posted this week!).

If your father has time there is a very nice
bicycle museum in Nijmegen
