And the women are off. Wymann down early. KFC well placed

Vos up in 2nd.

Vos now in 1st and hammering.

KFC 6th

KFC 27 down
Vos well up
KFC changes bikes
KFC 50 back

Vos is a monster

Vos, Lechner, VanPassen, Compton

Compton taking time out of VP and Lechner

Compton in 3rd

Compton 2nd!

Vos wins!

Katie 2nd, 134 back.

What a heartbreaker for 3rd. Nash loses a chain and gets passed by Chainel in the last meters.

Vos just riding away from folks. Impressive.

Some race to go, though.

Sad to see Nash lose 3rd like that... Crazy

Chainel-Lefevre passed Nash when Nash bobbled a remount on that climb/dip a bit before the finishing straight - she had to dismount again. Apparently, though, Chainel-Lefevre crashed on the final corner, out of view of the cameras looking down the finishing straight. That's why Nash entered the picture first, but then her chain jammed... really exciting finish, sharp of her to try to scoot to the line, but definitely a heartbreaker.

This morning I did my core workout, and regular workout, rode 50 minutes on the trainer, with lots of one legged drills...

Now I'm relaxing and enjoying the elite men. woot.

that eye rolling is an understatement! American 'cross riders suck... which is no big deal except 1) some people FOCUS on that and 2) some of us have actually read or heard friends talk up utter mediocrities like Jonathan Page et al like "the sport" "owes" them "something" more than maybe 10% off a box of Clif Bars or somesuch.

Glad Tim Johnson went from Euro pro washout to U.S pro packfill (Jittery Joes anyone?) to... what? They stream (whose quality I commend) cut away!!

Curious to hear from any Paceliners in Louisville today; race LOOKED great and the last 6-7-8 laps at the front were nail biters.

Well, top US finisher, TJ did get into the top 20...

Tuck, apologies if this has been posted before (it must have?) but have you seen this, re: one leg drills (which I used to don on the trainer also though I don't consider them a panacea or anything)--

I went out for a ride right after the race and missed that. Anyone have a video clip? I'd love to see that.

Rasmussen never tested positive in twelve years of UCI sanctioned competition.

In Chicago heading home from Louisville. Epic day; tough, changeable conditions. Logan Owen and KFC got massive crowd support as did the US men. Page has his mechanical right in front of me; looked like be shifted into the spokes, then it took him awhile to get going again.

Only complaint was crazy long food/beer lines. They lost a LOT of $$ by not moving people through better. But the venue itself was excellent.

I'll post some pics once I get home and sort through them.

Goodness, Klaas looked so, so, so sad on the podium.

And I can't help but chuckle at Sven Nys having said, a few weeks ago, that there's no way that the course could be a true mud cross. And that it wouldn't favor him.

Glad to see no Niels Albert domination; was impressed by little Lars' ride, and also by Wellens moving up through the field to grab 4th.

Cool to see Page riding inside the top 10 for a few laps - bummer about his mechanicals. He has pretty terrible luck sometimes.

I was watching live thinking 'boy, it'd be great for KvT to get the rainbow AND Belgian stripes in one year' then thinking 'I'll just bet SN would trade the Belgian stripes for the rainbow jersey and call it a good bargain.'

While I don't think KvT would've won the sprint 'cause SN is a crafty SOB, but hooking the pedal and losing those few meters did him in. :nod

...and MY! what a showing from Vos yesterday, huh?! KFC didn't get the start she needed to keep up and Vos just rode away with it. You can't give Vos that big of a head start and then think you're gonna reel her in. :nono

I LOLed at the booing when they said the medals would be presented by McQuaid. I did the same thing from this side of the screen!

Yeah. You know, though, Klaas has ridden away from Sven on the last lap before. He's got a ton of power. I don't know if he could have done it, but from his podium tears, it's clear that he wanted the opportunity to try.

It's a bummer that Katie Compton didn't get the chance to race Vos. Apparently she had mechanical issues on the first lap. I did notice her pit on lap 1.5 in about 12th-15th place. Her race really highlights her own incredible power and performance, as well as how much of a perfect race Vos rode. And Vos's bow at the end? All class, IMO. You're watching one of the most dominant cyclists ever, with WCs on track, road, cyclocross, and olympic medals. Wow, wow, wow.
