I dawdled and missed a frame in my size e-Richie was selling earlier this summer. Although his frame seemed to be in much better (and newer) condition, I think this one is worth a shot. Please, someone talk me out of bidding!

Looks like the price is starting pretty high with a lot of time remaining.

Good luck.

Boy I'm glad I don't have the money lying around to go after this one.

It's my size, too.

I passed on an e-richie used cross bike before building the Concours.

One of these days......<sigh>

Good thing it's not a 53.5 TT. I've been circling from above looking for a cross or road R. Sachs in my size for a while.

Go for it. If it were my size, I'd be bidding. I don't think you'll be disappointed. I especially like some of the extra details (internal brake cable routing, chomed chain stay).

The current high bidder is a regular on the CR listserv so maybe you can work something out (ie avoid a bidding war). Although I'm pretty sure that this auction won't close at just $1025.

If you can afford it, I say buy it.

By the way, that IF in the background is the exact same color, panel, and decal scheme as my IF. I wonder what size that is...

funny story about that bike.....some guy we'll just call him "j.s." rescued that bike from a really horrible bike shop where it was sitting in the window and was covered in spider webs and dust. he tried to woo a fast woman with it to no great effect....the thing looks like it has never been ridden but it has certainly been moved around alot as you can see from the few chips on it....
anyway, buy it if you want. or don't. it's nice and has the neato j.b. paint job and that 8speed d/a stuff...you could definatly do worse. just make sure to take those hurting rally tires off the thing when you get it....there is no reason a tubular should be that bad even if it is priced slightly lower than some tubes.

I wonder if that's the same Sach's I saw in a shop window in Boston earlier this year.

A Sachs with Shimano? Worse than a Colnago with Shimano....

The only reason not to go for it is that you are on the waiting list.

...and, as usual, I may be full of fecal material. But if this is a Sachs, I assume it was a custom build. For a specific rider. Who isn't you. Unless he/she/it is built very much like you, sits on the bike very much like you, and rides quite like you, this bike might not be all that wonderful for you. Sure, the workmanship and craft is pure Richard Sachs and that may be reason enough to buy it. To look at and admire. But if you want a bike that rides like E-Richie's bikes are designed to ride, I'd think you'd want one he designed for you. Custom. That's why I'm still between a year and a year and a half out on the waiting list.

Am I missing something here?

Valid points. If I am not mistaken, e-Richie is highly regarded for taking the measurements of a customer and translating those figures into the dimensions of a frame that are still based on how he, as the builder, believes the geometry should be laid out. In other words, the size is yours, the geometry is his. Therefore, the bike "should" fit another rider assuming similar proportions.

Also, if the frame is a late-80s vintage, I'm assuming that modern bits could be put on the frame with no clearance issues, except for the rear spacing. Am I wrong to assume this?

Hi John,

Is set back, not angle.

For 53c-t frame, normally is about 13-14 cm (I guess).
