OK,

Yeah its not a bike related thing... well, not exactly.

Taking a cycling trip in Bolivia this summer. Need to brush up.

I'm hoping someone has a copy of Rosetta Stone (as many levels as possible) in Spanish.

Thanks.

PS: Mods, throw me a bone on this one.

Bolivia? Hmm... well 1st thing you have to learn is not to drink from the faucet.

Second thing, that they give you ice in a drink doesnt mean the ice was made with filtered water and like 99.9% i asure that it wont be filtered water. Just letting you know why suddenly you got the scchhhiiiittttzz!

3rd thing, dont fu...k anybody there, no matter how hot she is.

4th .. drink a lot of pisco and beer, the people that drink more beer per capita in the whole world are the bolivians.

5th Well rosetta stone...?? Well... are you going to La Paz, Sucre or Santa Cruz??? Asking because all of those 3 areas have different accents... not saying you wont learn anything from the program but my best guess and advice is try learn to improvise not at talking but at understanding. Some bolivians 1st tonge is kechua (if you are in the middle of nowhere you will find this guys all the time) and then spanish and wont be like super easy with them because are going to be accents and intonations you havent heard ever and mixed with really weird use of verbs tenses, correction... non use or correct verb tenses, quite interesting. Other bolivians are just fluent in english for sure... will be interesting to know how your trip went, never been in bolivia during the winter time. I wouldn't go neither be alone there.

Certainly some good advise here on the forum. Especially from Ultraman. We will definitely need to see pictures from that trip!

Hope your calf (hamstring)? is better by then...would suck to go on a cycling trip and not be able to cycle very much.

Yeah Steve, riding is dependent on hamstring recovery. The trip, though, will most likely happen if I can ride or not.

@Ultra
My family lives in Santa Cruz and Cochabamba. I grew up speaking Castellano but I haven't spoken any Spanish with any frequency in about 7 years (and infrequently before that...I've lost A LOT!). In terms of Quechua, I'm sure it would help but its not necessary (my fam. in Cochabamba know it well enough).
----

True Story: Last time I was in Bolivia I was 17, hanging out in in Plaza 24 de Sept. Started talking to a cute girl.....only to find out she's my cousin. I stopped hitting on ladies at that point.... there's too many of us.

You will get the hang of that thing pretty quick then man, you never forget and probably you understand more than you think, in a week you will be ok and talking fine, like riding a bicycle :D

Have fun over there dude... hot chicks for sure... Oh.... coca leaf tea.. :D

Santa Cruz chicks are famous. Meet this girl from bolivia in tampa, she used to live in the middle of the jungle in those german communities, like amish but germans, no tv, no electricity and crap, even thought she was american until she started talking... interesting place bolivia.

Take a water filter thing, you really don't want to get sick, generally speaking water in south america is just bad.
