I am looking for any cyclists who have had partial knee replacement surgery, and their insights. How long to be back on the road, back to a high level of riding or diminished capabilities, etc.
I am scheduled for surgery 2/13/13.
Thanks much,
Byron

Thanks VAV. I'm still hoping to hear from those with a partial knee replacement. Mine will be on my left medial compartment.

I do not have any direct experience, but a friend (62 yo) had a total replacement - was very faithful with his rehab and today is still a beast on the bike, with no limitations - 200 mile rides are nothing to him.
So, I would think that if everything goes well you should be as good a new in no time - stay positive, don't overdue it, but follow the rehab program - best of luck.

My wife had a left medial uni knee in 2008. About 6 months to full recovery. She's not a cyclist, but she's 99% better. Some slight pain now if on it all day. She'd do it again. She was 53 at the time.

One of my bosses has a titanium knee. No issues at all, once healed.
He rides road and commutes, and mentioned to me the other day that he will be purchasing some speed play frogs for his bikes / because of the float, I am thinking.
Good luck
If your boss is interested I have a pair of speed play frogs. I used only for one month. Will sell 40% off of retail
