View Full Version : What other bars have Ergonova style bend?

I'm looking to get a shallower set of bars to replace the "Rotundos" I have now. I like how the Ergonovas have a rounder rather than overt "ergo" bend below the levers and a flat top above along with a shorter reach and shallower drop. What other bars (aluminum) are shaped like this? A lot of the other bar makers don't really show a side view and you have to wade through umpteen drop down menus just to get a bad glimpse.

IIRC, same compact design as ergonova but traditional round top not the wing top.

At 89mm, the reach on these bars is a bit longer than most compact bars including the ergonova and teven the traditional rotundo. The drop is 128 (only 10mm shorter than the rotundo but the curve is so sweet and comfy. Campy levers set up with a nice flat transition on the tops

FSA Wing Pro compact. Really good bars and not expensive at all.

This is a very good site: http://ruedatropical.com/2009/03/road-drop-bar-geometry/

Rueda is a regular here too btw.

Any love for the Ritchey WCS EvoCurve?

I've tried the EvoCurve, but not the Ergonova. I think it's a similar bend, definitely has the rounded drops not ergo. It does have an egg shape like the TTT, and sweep on the tops too, like a biomax. No flare though.

I wound up going to the FSA wing pro compact. Wing top, short and shallow, round drops, and a touch of flare from the hooks to the drops. And pretty cheap.

I got a pair by mistake, meant to order the Ritchey Curve. I really like them. Riding on the tops feels much better but I have fairly large hands.

I can palm a basketball....actually pick it up off the dribble that way, so this is data I can use.

That page is fantastic! Lots of excellent info. I'm moving from my Nitto Noodles to something a bit more compact. It took me forever to settle on the Ritchey Classic. If I'd have seen this site, it would have taken about 5 minutes.

Lewis, I have these Shimano PRO PLT alloy and love them. I also have big hands FWIW. Here on my Cervelo

My favorite feature of the Ergonovas is the flared drops. Saves a lot of wrist pain when in the drops.

If you don't care about that, you can get the Dimension bar, it's otherwise identical. It's actually called the "flat top shallow bar".

this hits all your marks. is inexpensive. and has a more complete bend to eliminate wrist lock on the "wings"

I use Ergosums, also have an Evocurve...shape is similar other than the oval tops. I rarely use the tops, though. I have some RLT compacts, too...the reach is much shallower.
