pretty open ended question...france, italy...spain may be warmer that time of year. but what are your preferences and interest other than cycling? what kind of food? what kind of climate? hills?

"in North America" at that time: southeast: Carolinas, Georgia, Alabama, Natchez Trace, Texas Hill Country, Arizona, So Cal. I probably missed some.

I miss read "out of"...ride from or outside of. but it seems like there are still many factors that would effect your choice.

here in my back yard.

Right now there's a bunch of teams around. I was able to mess around with Peter Segan Saturday during the team presentation at Paramount Studios. To see his bike handling skills was scary to say the least.

Its weird to say but the LA area gets my vote.

Once you get out of Los Angeles, there are some fantastic rides to be had.

Santa Monica mountains can give you anything from a 10 mile 5% average climb to a 2 mile climb with 18-22% switchbacks. It's hard not to log at least 2500' of climbing and quite easy to do 6k in 40-50 miles.

There's also the San Gabe mountains which have steady, less punchy climbs (unless you do Mt. Baldy).

A 90min drive will put you near Ojai for a steady 25mile climb up 33. Another 30 min puts you in the San Yinez valley for some reallly really beautiful riding.

. . . and what are your transportation options? I saw somebody mention in another thread you are 14. If that's true then it might restrict your options a bit if you can't drive yet.

And where your parents may allow you to go, if you're 14. Southern and mid-coast California, Arizona, and Texas Hill Country are all great suggestions. But, it all comes down to where your are and how far you can/will travel. By May, Colorado may be viable, too. More parameters are needed.

Don't forget the SCV - it's getting pretty crowded up there compared to 1986 when I first moved there, but the Bouquet-Spunky/Lake Elizabeth-San Francisquito loops are still really nice riding.

We went to Fredericksburg in Texas Hill country last spring and enjoyed it. There was some climbs but nothing to big or steep. It is hill country, not mountain country. Lots of good back roads with no traffic. Just watch out for the cattle guards.

Don't know how good it will be but we like to go to Myrtle Beach in the Spring. Planning on taking bike for the first time. Had not investigated before; there seems to be a handful of bike shops that together have a early morning ride just about every day of the week.

As you guys mentioned, I am 14, but, my parents said they'd like to go on a trip so, hawaii is so far the best option. Thanks for all the feedback
