I'm having issues with java across Firefox and Chrome, and am not sure what's going on. I heard there was some zero day exploit that is currently being patched (or has just been patched) that uses the java run time environment.

Has anyone else had an issue with this? is there a solution?

May not help, but is this what you're talking about?

Or just disable Java in all of your browsers:

No, Seriously, Just Disable Java in Your Browser Right Now (http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2013/01/14/java_zero_day_exploit_don_t_patch_just_disable_jav a_in_your_browser.html)

and how to disable info here:

Why You Should Probably Disable Java on Your Browser Right Now (http://www.slate.com/blogs/future_tense/2012/08/29/java_zero_day_vulnerability_why_you_should_disable _java_on_your_browser_right_now_.html)

You also can update Java to 7.11 which fixes some issues. But among other things you then can open the Java console in control panel, open security tab and then click, disable in all browsers. It is the only way to disable Java in Internet Explorer. You can individually disable Java in Firefox and Chrome under plugins or addons.

Please note, Java and java script are two unrelated things. You don't have to worry about java script. Just Java and the Java Runtime Environment.
