Well, it was sloppy and wet and not too cold, but at least I kept my tradition of getting out on my birthday... this was a much easier tradition to uphold in San Diego! :D

I want to drive one of these so bad!

The Bruce Gordon Rock and Roads did great in this stuff

Dude,

As far as I'm concerned, you are the resident hardman on this forum. You're riding in Alaska in January!! Unreal. Nice going, and happy birthday, bro.

thanks Matt!

it wasn't too bad today... Kodiak Island is a lot warmer (relatively) than most of Alaska... The guys in Anchorage on the Fat Bikes are hardmen!

Happy birthday!

Mine was Fri. It was LOTS easier to get talked into the postponed NY Day century Fri... Would've been better today, but ya get what ya get. :nod

happy birthday brother! nice stuff, despite the snow, looks like some pleasant riding, good for you for staying motivated and getting out there.

i probably missed it elsewhere, but what is the writing on your top tube, if you dont mind sharing??

I've been told it's Taiwanese and says "Black Mountain Cycles"...

thanks for the b-day wishes! Yeah, it can be hard to stay motivated up here... currently I go to work in the dark and have about 30 minutes of twilight after work so I don't ride during the week... just too dangerous here to ride in the dark... I've been thinking it's time to drag the trainer out...

Happy birthday i do the same thing every birthday too it's a fun day to reflect on the past year. Wow those pictures bring back memories, but i don't recognize that fourth one with the flag pole and large green tank in the back ground (natural gas storage?) Have you ridden out to pasagshck yet and seen people out there surfing, crazy. Do they still have the crab fest in May they used to have a two day mountain bike race. I think it went from town up to the old airforce radio/comms center down burma road behind old woman mountain then up and over droping down by the base. The next day was out to roads end and back. It's been 16 years since I was there but there was some good riding but the ice and wind get really old really fast.
Have fun and keep the pictures coming.

the flagpole is at the COMMSTA... the tank in the background is the water treatment plant I believe... haven't ridden to Pasagshck yet, plan to this summer... Crabfest is still in May, they have a road bike race from either Chiniak or Pasagshck into town... I hope to do that one as well...

thanks!

I thought I'd post a pic of evolving workshop... it's small, but since I don't have a garage I'll take what I can get... I do have a larger shed in the backyard (that's where the other bikes are), but it doesn't have electricity and full of other crap that used to be in our garage before the move... ;)

This one is at least connected to the house and I have a small heater for when I'm out there... still need to get workbench, but it'll work for now...
