I might rather be riding, but maybe not. Stumbled across this a couple of weeks ago on PBS. Blew me out. Sound and visual too. All three soloists are amazing and their "interplay" is cool to watch:

How in heck did Ludwig do it? Not as good as a quick release multi-tool, but pretty close.

The Beethoven flash mob is one of the best things to come out of the internet, ever.

I get all misty eyed every time I see it.

That was fantastic. I turned it on and my 4 & 5 year old heard it and came in and just sat & watched the whole thing amazed. Now I have to go buy them some violins while they are interested:) anyone seen a stradavarius in the classifieds here?

Do it. No need for a Strad, and for what it's worth, unlike anything else you get your kid, any decent Violin/Cello will increase in value over time if it's cared for, better than money in the bank. 11 years of Suzuki lessons (I started late, at 6- some kids start as early as 3-4), camps and concerts were my highlights of growing up. That, and my first Fuji 10-speed of course.

Loved the you tube vid. Thanks. Very well done. I wonder if the musicians have a blast playing outside of a controlled symphony hall bringing great music to the public.

Thanks again for a great rainy day interlude.

Many thanks for that. The video reminds me that I need to get to Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center more often...

Hard to believe that Beethoven was nearly deaf when he composed this masterpiece (and completely deaf when he composed so many others).

All three soloists are amazing and their "interplay" is cool to watch:.

If the "interplay" is what caused the spark, other favorites that immediately come to mind are the Brahms Double concerto, and Bach's 5th Brandenburg Concerto- I like an older 60s recording with Pablo Casals conducting the Marlboro (VT-just off the D2R2 course!) Festival Orchestra done with modern instruments (eg piano instead of the original harpsichord of Bach's time, sounds much cleaner and more precise). Listen to the melody getting tossed about between the piano, violin and flute. I love all three movements, but Mvt I Allegro is in my head as the musical version of a winning breakaway trading perfect pulls! Oh, and (spoiler alert) the piano pulls off the win!
