View Full Version : Bike related charities
I'm reviewing my end-of-year giving, and I'd like to contribute to some worthwhile bike-related charities. Suggestions?

even though Johan Bruyneel and SRAM are hugely tied into it, there is World Bicycle Relief : http://www.worldbicyclerelief.org/
They give bikes to people in Africa to get to school and work/market, train bicycle mechanics to service those bikes, etc...
FatCyclist has done a ton of fundraising with them the past few years..

I highly recommend the Merlinmurph Firefly Fund. Sorry, we're not 501(c)(3), but I can guarantee that 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the purchase of a new Firefly frame. :)
Seriously, I don't know of any, but I laud your efforts. Great idea and very generous of you.

I just donated $134 to World Bicycle Relief, enough to purchase one bike. Through the end of today contributions will be matched $ for $.

Bikes Not Bombs in Boston has a huge presence in the local inner city community where they teach kids bike mechanics and give them the opportunity to renovate/restore a bike they get to keep
They were recently profiled in Bicycling magazine
