Went along on saturday morning. A small family affair. While Lewellyn and Baum were undoubtedly the more famous exhibitors, especially from an international perspective, there were other great builders there too. I will be giving a frame from Gellie serious consideration over the next few months.

I flew over and went on Sunday. Got to speak to Dazza and Maryann, lovely people, and beautiful bikes. How I stopped myself from putting down a deposit on another Llewellyn is beyond me.

I can appreciate the work that goes into Baums but the stealth paint jobs are a bit drab for my tastes. I liked the Gellie's as well, and the gravity bikes are just insane

Alright...that's almost no fair! Next time I want photos of y'all who are going to attend so I know who's who! There were several people who I thought...hmmmm...forumite? But I wasn't sure...
(I chatted with so many people both days...in between running for tea/food/work stands and fielding questions that I could answer about the bikes and taking pictures..but I wasn't sure who was a forumite and who wasn't. I did have suspicions of the gentleman with the Bob Jackson parked over at the cafe...)

Ah ha! I've connected the dots. Nice to meet you too!

Wander over to the Llewellyn site, there's a paypal button on the "how to buy" page...the deposit will get you in the queue! Of course, for those considering a Lucentezza, he's contemplating making only one Lucentezza finish bike per year. They're 250 hours of metal work...

Here's a little pic of Dazza's custom rack project for the Rando lovers out there.

Patebury must be happy. In every caption, Cyclingnews misspelled their name!!!

Yeah... "follow the wiring" was a good game. And the rack setup is pretty sweet too.

For something completely different, Darrell showed his new Itgoes model at the show as well. He uses Dario Pegoretti's Falz carbon fibre fork (I have to figure out how to send corrections to bike radar and whatnot. I heard Darrell explain that the fork is Dario's design...however they didn't quite get that in print...)

Things have been crazy around here, I must get the new models up on his site!

Yes, I'm sure they're thrilled...I haven't tried their stuff, but it looked good and felt good...and when I was chatting with them they seem committed to producing nice stuff. (And they use vegetable died roo hides, so the leather is chromate free! Now if I could just talk them into making shoes and I'd be all set....)

I'm not usually one to go up to people and say "Hi, I'm Carl from........." but it probably would have made things easier

As for another one, let's just say I'm in the "getting my wife used to the idea" stage of the negotiations :help:

Maryann, we had a chat and a few informative minutes with Darrell too. I'm not a big one on "I'm Carl......" either. Very impressive work. I think one of my mates is now seriously contemplating a bike from you guys.

Karin, Darrell still fondly recalls your many tea deliveries at NAHBS, you're a hard act to follow!

I have obviously failed in bringing forum comradarie to Australia...Of COURSE you should come up and say you're a paceline forum member!
