Can anyone that has used this confirm / deny if you need to use a 7900 FD with them?

So far all of my searching through the internet has been mixed as to whether the front is actually still friction / can be used with a 7800 or 6600 FD or if you need to use a 7900 FD.

Anyway I'd appreciate any insight on them as the 7800 models which I know would work are hard to come by now since the 7900 replaced them apparently.

You can use any FD since the LH shifter is friction. Even non shimano will work fine and dandy.

It's pure friction. I'm using 7900 barcons with 6700 FD. Limit screw to limit screw. No sloppy cable. No hesitation. (But there is some rather unsightly black plastic.)

Thanks all, cleared up any hesitation I had about getting them.
