I'm interested in helmet designs where the back extends further down to cover more of the head. I've seen one or two cyclists wearing this type of helmet but I've not caught the brand.

Any ideas?

In a typical road position on the hoods, a helmet that is too deep in back can dig into your neck. I have a helmet that I can't wear on the road because of this. It is fine on my mtb where I'm more upright.

Curious why you think you need this type of protection? I don't see a lot of crashes where there is injury to the lower back of the head.

I've been looking at those. Which one are you using and how does fit compare to a Bell (in particular a Volt or Sweep)?

THEY AREN’T FROM FRANCE At the 1976 Innsbruck Games, the West German team arrived with innovative “conehead” helmets. The aerodynamic headgear helped the team win three medals. Similar helmets were outlawed in subsequent Olympics.
