Yeah, I thought about buying a few of them... you could get a fully built Race Lite w/ XT and Judy fork for about $850.00 - or 1/3rd MSRP!

I am still kicking myself for not getting at least one of them.

To the best of my knowledge those bikes were built by Yeti. Though some may have been built by SAPA too.

I have been pestering this company to get these cranks in silver. Black doesn't fit my current bike build and removing the finish will end the warranty. I'll have to wait until the silver comes out.

I'm happy that you are taking on this project. I own the ee brakes and love the design.

from reading various things, it looks like it's customizable in a variety of ways--stiffness, lengths, etc.

if i owned 'em i'd rather see some sort of sleeve over those tubes though, looks like they'd be too susceptible to getting messed up and/or getting gunk all over. (assuming regular use--if on special infrequent ride, then i guess it doesn't matter).

wild stuff though, no doubt.

Kirk - I haven't seen any of the EE cranks first hand, but I am very interested. Does the setup use a wavy washer ala campy UT to keep the axle from moving side-to-side? I am hoping the answer is no....

The photos of the EE crank appeared on that thread and Ciamillo was talking about it as if it was his crank/design.

It's hard to tell what's what.

Got one! And still have it. Though I think I paid about $1K at Supergo. Which is about the same as I had paid for my Privateer S w/V-brake upgrade about a year earlier. I think the titanium frame complete bikes were a bit over $2K at the time. I always like the Road Lites too.

Yes, it may [will] require some .005" spacers or a wave washer. Fwiw, I am with you; I don't like the idea of using spacers or washers. But you must realize that this is not a shortcoming of the crank design, but rather a BB shell tolerance issue.

The industry standard for shell width tolerances is +/- 1mm. Unlike cranks with thru-holes in one arm that allows the crank to bottom out on the bearing, cranks like the EE and Campagnolo (among others) have positive stops and must account for the slop in the shell machining somehow.

I'd concede that on the face of it, spacers and washers may seem like an inelegant solution. But they do work perfectly well and are very, very light. There really is no down side other than the possibility offending one's aesthetic sensibilities. ;)

Ciamillo wasn't at all implying that the ee were his design. And Craig doesn't claim to have designed Ciamillos.

Much like his thread, users posted one crank in the other thread and users then got mixed up.

The carbon tubed crank on page one is ciamillos.

Lets not make a problem where one doesn't exist.

I was working for Trek at the end of the Bontrager era. I remember someone I worked with nabbed a TiLite for $400 or something ridiculous, and everyone was running around on the 24" bontager cruisers that corporate had knocked down to $200 complete for employees.

I have been getting a lot of inquiries about chainline for our new crank. The pre-production prototypes were made with a 42.8mm chainline. However, we've made a minor revision to the design so that our chainline will be exactly the same as Shimano at 43.5mm when it goes into production.
