Got your attention, eh?
Being in the aerospace parts manufacturing business, I just received this notice concerning "charity wristbands":
"In the spirit of team quality, we want to make you aware of an issue we are looking at concerning the potential hazard of free silicone oil contamination on various manufacturing processes from “charity wristbands.” Many of the rubber wristbands contain free silicone oil that easily rubs off and reacts with and affects the adhesive properties used in processes such as composite manufacture, bonding, painting, soldering, conformal coating and other encapsulation processes. We have not experienced any issues with this but our Supply Chain organization is evaluating the potential for future impact. We are advising suppliers that the bracelets should not be worn in areas where the oil might contaminate a process and cause quality problems."
I wonder what these bands do to your skin longterm.
