I remember having that bovine bar tape on a black Vitus years ago. Cool retro.

Ray Dobbins has a page devoted to the horror of Splash tape: http://raydobbins.com/splash/splash.htm.

What bike is that?

Zinn made for Karen Kornblatt(not sure of the spelling), a little memorial to her, raced with Julie Furtado.

When I got my old (black) Vitus back earlier this month, the first thing I noticed was the black and white bar tape I had put on in the late 80s.

I remember having that bovine bar tape on a black Vitus years ago. Cool retro.

Me too, but it would mean crossing 15 or 16 time zones to get there!!

Eddy is the one. The photograph is even better in that it is not Eddy from the indomitable Molteni era of his youth but a Merckx from older years with a visage that says he knows and has seen it all. Keeping a watchful eye on Vecchio's from above the bustle.

Peter,

Where can I get a nice, high-res copy of that Eddy image?

Thanks,
Jim

Wow thanks for sharing I did not know this photographer.

This gallery is stunning http://www.stephanvanfleteren.com/gallery_flandriens/index.html

Really captures some spirit of Flanders, or even Belgium, you know... kind of depressing at the end of the winter but still very strong in feelings. God I love my country.

Is that where the Atala was hanging?

I loves me good bike pics on the wall. I just picked up 4 like this at a garage sale last week:eek:

https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-BKfwUUthk64/UKfAIxZ9VlI/AAAAAAAAH44/zrc-PDWcBSU/s800/P1030684.JPG

You never know what you might find. They had lots of other bike stuff, too. I emptied my wallet. Funny thing, it was at the trail head where we hike every AM, and got to have a 'pre sale'. Wasn't even out shopping.

If I only had Peter's wall space!

That's funny since you live in Paradise. We've been visiting for the past 10 summers.

Old potatoe is a classy guy and so is his shop just like the paceline forum :)
We should make a plaque naming it the official bike shop of the paceline forum
Imho
Cheers

Wow, that is awesome. I'll be back out next summer again with the requisite stop/shop/purchase from Peter & co. Love my LS Vecchio's cold-eather jersey. I'm thinking matching shop bibs would be nice on my next trip!

And I can just see Eddy looking down on that Molteni Waterford you had this summer --although I bet it's long gone....

I'm glad someone likes that stuff because it's not me.In my opinion, that bike hanging at Vecchio's would look great with white handlebar tape, either Benotto or cloth. Or anything but Splash. :)
