"But don’t ask for…
Internal electronic routing. We don’t recommend drilling extra holes in metal frames, particularly on a travel bike. It’s simply not a good idea to weaken a frame. Take it as a bit of wisdom from a company that has built thousands of frames over four decades. The nicest way to enjoy your bicycle is to be able to ride it with everything working. We’re not being old fashioned, just wise."

Somehow, I feel responsible for this quote.

Way out of my price range.

Serotta has really expanded the markets they appeal to with that offering. Nice no doubt, but pretty small niche at that price. Hard to believe keeping steel in the lineup at half the price wouldn't move more units than this new offering.

you guys have any idea what those Ti couplers cost on the wholesale side?

more than everything else combined to make a Ti road frame including the carbon fork.

around 300 dollars a set?

i did not accuse them of price gouging, 7k is just a lot for something that you hand over to TSA.

do you think it is an affordable travel bike?

I like the 'all roads option'. A bike like this is a great way to travel, essentially a step up from my bilenky modified ti fierte. Getting the fit just right, the tubes tuned just so... it has to add to the joy, especially if your body type is not as normal as mine, which does pretty well with an average sized bike. There are going to be tangible and intangible benefits to this one.

over a grand unless you are buying qty.

Very nice. Fatter tires, fender and rack options. Couplers.

It is expensive, but worth it IMO if you are going to use it. Tim Porter has a Legend with couplers, he has traveled to some cool places with that bike and left us with some great photos...yes it is worth it.

Nick,
You better call Kelly and tell him that as we charge $800 retail for these couplers, not 1 grand :)
I also thought that these are SST on the outter shells, and only Ti where they are welded to the mating tubes to keep the price down.

Looks like a price increase soon from Bedford :) But seriously this is a pricey Ti coupler frame by anybodys standard and I have sold ALOT of Ti and Steel coupler bikes and have two steel couplers going into production this week.

They're very cool bikes, meticulously engineered and built. As Paul said, I've used mine in Europe a bit and it's lived up to the rep. I'll leave the price discussion up to you guys, but I value it highly. Just after I took the bike photo in the first pic, I did the descent (and climb back up) shown in the second pic. :) Tim

Hard to put a price on the value of navel gazing rapture looking down at the beauty of a tool, to each his/her own.

But for comparison, you could get a pretty nice coupled Ti f/f from any number of builders and still have enough for 2 or more round trip tickets to the destination of your choice pretty much anywhere in the world. 3-4 for something a few ounces heavier in steel. I'd rather spend my navel gazing funds for looking outward than down at my oh so perfect -----bike.

bill here from Serotta.

No, I found out the case is not included today but good catch and makes sense. I can't think why someone would order this bike and not want the case.

I am going to look into including it with the purchase. Might take me a little time but I will let you know what I find out.

Thanks.

Ride hard, be well, have fun.

Yes, see pic. I added the two big O-rings to quell the rattling on the top tube.

What's that quote, the price of everything and the value of nothing?

I'd never drop that sort of money on a bike even if I had it.

The truth is that I'm not very high performance so why does my bike need to be?

For me there is a threshold of quality that should not to compromised but beyond that it is needless excess.
