Winter Snow rides

I was up all night working on my bikes, clean, and just messing around on the the internet. I work a night shift so this is how the weekends seem to go. This weekend started a bit different. SNOW!!! It just kept falling. Every hour or so I would look out the window and it just kept coming. So around 6am I start contemplation a snow ride. Check the forecast. More snow and 20*s temp. Oh well lets do it. Digging through all my stuff to piece together my cold weather gear. Around 9am I hit up a buddy and he asks if I picked up studded tires... No:no: So I attempt to ride anyway on my 2.4 Racing Ralphs with very little success. At the bike shop I pick up a pair of Nokians and set out. Of we go for one fun ride. 2.5 hours of pure fun. Funny thing, the shop had three pairs when I came in this morning and at the end of the ride I stopped to pick up my old tires and the owner was setting aside the last set for a customer on the phone.

Wow nice. My cross bike will get some snow tires in another month or so. Just too early here in NE (but I guess I could have gone out last week). Have fun and nice ride.

This time last year I was doing this in California. We had a good blanket but these were taken several days after a snow. 6" or less on the trail and the snow is pretty grippy with regular tires.

I love the snow so I don't mind. Last winter I missed winter completely because I was in Guam. That was the first time I have been without a snowy winter and it gave the whole year a strange feeling.

It looks like it is here to stay. In the teens today. May go out agian:banana:
