This popped up on Craigslist and I like what I see (nice lugs, cantilever brakes, braze-ons), but not sure what I'm seeing and neither does the seller since its been powdercoated.

Anyone want to take a stab at indentifyin it?

Looks japanese or maybe and old darn trek type of frame.

The lugs don't look like Trek to me, plus the braze-ons don't line up any Trek models I have experience with (not to say it couldn't be, tho...).

I was wondering if it might have been a UJB, too, but hoping its something nicer.

Look like Bocama competition lugs to me...don't know how much that narrows things down.

I would guess early 80's Japanese? Maybe check some catalogs and see if anything matches up.

Good call on the lugset. Looks like a match:

You might be able to narrow it down by checking the seatpost diameter and the type of threading in the BB.

Also see if you can make out a name stamped on the dropouts under the powder coating.

Thanks for chiming in guys. My buddy who I was scouting it for is giving it a pass.

I think he had hoped it was some high end number. I guess, I secretly hoped the same for him, too.

the bike screams late 80's early 90's novara randonee. an REI bike similar to miyata, panasonic and centurion loaded turing bikes of the day.

i can almost imagine that thing was gun metal grey with red somewhere on it.
