Can anyone explain the difference ( particularly in price) between these two sets of bars? One is a model MEX and the other a TDF. There's also another ebayer in spain that has sold a looad f the TDF @ $100 a pop, so I assume the price must be just about right. Are the other just a really great deal?

Thanks.

I think Mex are ergonomic (not!) bars, and TDF are round. I think the photo in the cheap listing is wrong...

Planet-x are pretty good and on the close-up the bars say "MEX" on them, so I would assume it's right.

At the risk of sounding silly, what would be the difference in them if they were "ergonomics"?

Ergo bars have a flat spot in the drops to "accommodate" your hands.

So I take it they are very similar and the latter is just a pretty great deal?

I've owned both. MEX are deep drop and TdF are shallow.

MEX is the Deep drop Merckx or Belgian bend. TdF is like a typical Italian bend / medium drop. Both bars are in the viewer at the link. 3TTT also made a GIM Gimondi bend. Which is a road / track hybrid.

Very good article. So any idea in the difference in price? Are the TDF more desirable?

So far as I know NOS 3ttt bars generally all sell for similar prices no matter the bend. If they are from similar time periods. Later bars like the Ergo Due have channels for Ergo shifter cables. Earlier bars are available in silver and have sleeved center sections. Maybe better for an older bike look wise.

I use a GIM bend bar. Personal preference.
