Has anyone had the opportunity to use either of the two authorized Serotta refinishers in Colorado? I'd like to have my CSi refinished and ideally keep it local, however I am wondering if I should just ship it to a known quantity instead. Of the two to choose from here in CO, one has a weak website and the other does not have one at all. Makes me wonder how a shop makes it to the Serotta list of authorized refinishers, do they just apply? Perhaps you can't judge them by their site, thus my inquiry to all of you. Any help is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Rich does great work. I'd have no concern working with him.

Spectrum Powder Works isn't on the list, but I had a great experience working with them. They custom painted a fork (http://threadgill.smugmug.com/photos/i-TqfVX5g/0/XL/i-TqfVX5g-XL.jpg) for me (working from a sketch that I gave them) that came out very nice imo.

I didn't even know Serotta had a list of authorized refinishers. Where did you find it?

Supposedly, your refinishing can include the proper decals as part of your project. Only authorized refinishers are supposed to be able to obtain the correct decals for purposes of refinishing your cherished serotta;)

So what does Serotta authorized mean? I mean, has Serotta vetted this list or they are just willing to provide decals to them? I'm pretty sure most builders can get those decals. If they are like most companies they get them from the same guy in NC or SC.

The other question is what are you willing to spend? I would be sure to choose a painter who is able to replace rusted/damaged braze-ons.

Edit: Obviously all the best painters in the US and Canada are on that list. Not questioning anyones talent, just curious.

Thanks!

Edited to add: I don't know that I'd let getting the "proper" decals worry me overmuch. I had one of my Serottas powdercoated by Spectrum and the decals they used are identical to those on my other Serottas in every respect.

I know several people with his frames and have only heard high praise. I probably wouldn't hire him to design my website, but wouldn't use that to base his skills as a frame builder!

FWIW...The new customer service manager from Serotta posted here that they would now supply decals for our older frames, if we shot him an email.

I'll try to find the thread shortly...

Edit: Sounds like it may still be iffy for painted frames: http://forums.thepaceline.net/showpost.php?p=1187998&postcount=79
