Why do the results for 1999-2005 show that first place in the GC was vacated, whereas Riis is still listed as the 1997 winner, even after he admitted to doping? It seems inconsistent to me.

Statute of limitations ran out? Come on, what is the use of having rules if you are not going to follow them or enforce them?

Same can be asked about all the results from Jan Ullrich that still are on the books.

I guess some guys get all their results vacated, while others don't. Yeah, that makes sense....

I see that the A.S.O. website still has Lance as the winner in 1999-2005:

I think it was '96?

Anyway, Riis admitted to it, and offered to return the yellow jersey and what-not. That is what it takes to keep your name in the record books.

Lance on the other hand, was more than a doper. He was a manipulative drug pusher, who refuses to admit to anything.

Riis did vacate his win for a while after confessing, but then it was restored to him.
