Who's in? Last year was a blast...especially meeting Mr. Handlebra. Would there be any interest in a Paceline bar/dinner event? I'd gladly set something up.

I'll be going on Saturday. I'm going to try to keep myself from buying another bike this year by leaving my checkbook at home.

I am not presenting this year since I am just to busy to handle more than one show a year. I am however giving a seminar on bicycle geometry. This is more of a seminar about the bicycle as a whole than just the geometry. Mostly because IMO fit and geometry work in unison and neither could be optimized without one helping the other.

Sunday at 1pm.

Cheers,
Drew

ps- If people are in for the weekend they are always welcome to come by the shop for a visit. I warn you that I am currently working on an extension of the shop and stuff is everywhere!

Bina Bilenky called me last Friday to encourage me to show. Steve Bilenky had come up with a plan to persuade builders from farther away to exhibit. So at the last minute I'll try to organize frames/bicycles my students have built in my framebuilding classes. I'll also bring an example of the fixture I've designed and had laser cut and etched out of stainless steel. I'll see if I can't find room to bring a sample of the bicycles we make in Ukraine for pastors. I always enjoy the chance to put a face to a name or screen name.

I'm not sure which would be the better day AS...sorry man. Maybe take a look at the schedule and see which events speak to you more?

If folks are interested, I'll schedule something where we can meet for a beer. Are folks more interested in food or drinks? The answer will determine where I schedule (that and interest).

My (ample) gut is saying Grace Tavern at 23rd and South...it's not too far from the Armory, they have decent beers and their burgers are pretty good. The disadvantage is that it's small. If folks are more drink oriented, I'm thinking Doobies...which isn't so good for food, but which is my favorite neighborhoody bar near center city. It's a fun place with fun people and cool staff.

Maybe I'll just throw a party at our house? We're not THAT far from the armory...maybe 2 miles, if not less.

I strongly recommend that visitors stop by Via Bikes if they're into the vintage scene; they're a wonderland of cool things. I think last year Via scheduled a tour for expo folks - maybe they would be willing to again. I could speak to them if anyone is interested.

I am only there Saturday, food and drinks doesnt much matter, something informal would be best.... which sucks cause I'd like to be at the Engin geo seminar.. but we're taking the youngins to the Eagles game on Sunday for a bday gift.

Any experience with the valet bike parking? I don't want to bring my bike along only to find that all the spaces are taken.

I didn't actually use it...but it's Philadelphia, there are going to be spots.

The valet parking was brilliant. Young inner city kids that spent half the time ogling and half the time discussing the bikes with their friends.

Any further thoughts about meeting up?

It's looking like I'll be available Sunday night for a beer...maybe 7ish? My schedule is looking increasingly ugly.

I am thinking about having an open house this Friday since people would be in town for the expo. Is this something people here would have an interest in?? Trying to get an idea if this is worth the effort.

Cheers,
Drew

Just so it is clear I am going to have an open house during the holiday season since this seemed like a bit too last minute. I will keep all updated and post something when I plan on having it.

thanks,
Drew

ps-hope to see some folks at my seminar on Sunday. I will have a really cool disc cross bike with me as a prop.

Great show!

I had a blast as always shooting the **** with all sorts of Bike Nerds. The show is casual enough to allow for breaking brad (literally) with world class builders and yet serious enough to entice those builders to attend.

Bravo to the Bilenky clan, and long live the Philly Bike Expo!

Any other show reports or pics? I trust no one got stranded or hurt in any way from the storm.

And LOVE the panels and shade of blue on this. http://www.flickr.com/photos/26383479@N04/8133815639/in/set-72157631877327285/

Oh man . . . I'm going to have to go next year. And to think, I even used to live in Philly and didn't know about this . . .
