Ok, so I dont want to talk in 3rd person, but I do want a 14 cm stem (because you know what the jerk says) to go along with my new C-50 purchase.

Any suggestions (would prefer Italian).

As always, thank you all in advance,

Steve

PS: And a big thank you to everyone who helped me make my decison to buy the C-50. I should have it in about a week!

PSS: I really do not believe that the Jerk thinks your stem is long enough.

This is my old (long gone) C-40 that had a 14 cm stem.

...stem may not be too short but the spacers are too high :argue:

Let the bickering begin :D

Why not one of those ITM/Colnago angle adjustable stems like on your old C-40? I think they look good and you can get that "right" angle out of them so easily.

They still make a 1" stem that goes to 14, but not the 1 1/8".

Good thought though (I did check into that).

Thanks,

Steve

I may be and often am wrong but weren't those stems 1"1/8 with a shim that allowed you to adjust the angle? You'd lose the adjustability but the ITM Millinium stem is still a nice stem.

I have a Deda Newton 14 cm on my Merckx Ti. Gotta look sometimes, but they're out there.

Long and low Pal. Get rid of those spacers. It ain't about how it rides (it would ride better though) or how you feel. It's about how it looks. If you're not looking good, your looking bad. Simple as that. Just kidding. Maybe.

Any idea where I can find a stem like the one you mention in a size 14?

Thanks,

Steve

Unfortuanately, the 1" Colnago stems with the variable angle bushings are NOT 1-1/8" after the bushing is removed. It's larger in diameter, 1.140 inch as I remember, but it's been a long time since I owned one. Since the ID is slightly larger, a shim might be useable.

you can get a thomson in a 14

not the road stem-

only the MTB Elite- and the 140 has a 15* rise- I guess you could flip it over?

I have a 130 vice versa and a 130 stella espresso and they are pretty Italian and pretty sweet. Also if you are into the weight thing tthe espresso is only 130gr. on my scale. Now thats legit! and the v/v is 200 on the button. Light stiff and eurotrashy! Congrats and way jealous on your new ride!

The thead says the Jerk had a 14 so it should exist. The sites say they have the stem in a 14cm. Anyways here are some sites but none in the U.S.

I am looking for a new stem too (only 120mm) and I am thinking of ordering a thompson road stem in silver so it matches the rest of my stuff. If you look on their site they list both mountain and road stems in 140mm size (part #SM-E118).
check it out:

http://www.lhthomson.com/elite_stem_sizes.asp

Should be easy for LBS to order.

only half right- or am I half wrong

i was wrong- they do offer a stem with a -10* rise and 140mm- but - it is the elite line of stems- their "MTB" line

the new X-2 (http://www.lhthomson.com/elite_x2_sizes.asp) is their road stem - which is not offered in a 140mm length-

its all in the details-

lets just say we were both half right-

Did you try World Cycling Productions or Reparto Corse.com? WCP is in the midwest and Reparto is in NY someplace I think? They carry Stella stuff although not cheap.

Worth a shot, Jeff

Thanks for the clarification. Details details.... :crap: I will hold on to the "half right" idea (delicate ego dont you know) :p
Steve, I somehow spaced out on the "italian" part of your thread. Oops.
Good luck.
Where is the Jerk when you need him? Just like that "easy" button advertised for Kinkos (I think) the forum needs a "Jerk" button, IMHO.

Thank you all for the links, etc...

It appears that Stella Azzurra only imports stems up to 130 mm into the US.

But, the Jerk said "no problem" He can get me a 140 Stella Azzurra stem.

Long live the Jerk!!!

Thanks again,

Steve

Its a 59.2.....I dont mind having a 140...I had one on my C-40.

I prefer a 60 with a 130 stem...

But, I really have missed my C-40 after I sold it a few years back and when the C-50's MSRP was lowered $400.00 + I got another 10% off that and a few accesories thrown in...I couldnt pass it up!

So, in the market for a 140 stem. Of course I have an FSA in 120 and a 3T in 130...

ITM/Colnago makes a stem that comes in 140 mm length. I bought it today from the same place I bought my C-50.

Again, thanks everyone for all your assistance!!!
