I've been encountering black bears almost every week for the past month and a half. They pop up in my neighborhood while I'm walking the dogs and I've seen several when returning from evening rides. We had them checking out our campsite last week in Utah and chased one off the path while riding a section of the Kokopelli trail. Tonight there is one hanging out in a tree 50 yards from my house. What's going on? Are we in for a long brutal winter or is Lance to blame?

Wow, that's pretty cool. As long as they leave you alone.

That's cool, but I would read up. I'll bet you already have.;) I consider it a prudent Divide prep measure.

Holy coincidence William. The women I drove with to the start of Kokopelli was reading that book and we joked about it. I didn't tell her about the bear which checked out our camp.

I blame Lance.

We have a black bear den on my parents' property but only see them a few times a year, sometimes not at all. They don't bother us, we don't bother them.

We have had a fare share of Bears this year here in Boulder Canyon. But our wildlife camera did get this cool shot of one of our resident Bobcat.
