I'm wondering what the distance is from the top of the straight section of the post to the bottom of the lettering. I have showed the dimension on the picture below.

I know that there is a difference between the Elite and Masterpiece logos, so those measurements might also be different. If there's anybody out there with a zero-setback Thomson Elite or Masterpiece post, would you be able to take the measurement for me?

Thanks in advance!

~80mm (80.31) on a Masterpiece.
~83mm (82.62) on an Elite.

...Measured on center from the machined lip.

Thompson Elite - 11.5cm

Why do you ask though?

Thanks all! Surprised there is so much variability, but I guess they probably change the location from year to year. I'll just have to check individually for whatever post I buy.

I ask because I'm looking to replace a seatpost on my bike with a Thomson, but I'd much prefer if the full logo was visible rather than interrupted halfway by the seat cluster.

They may be measuring different things.

It may be placed at different places depending on overall post length: 410mm posts vs shorter ones.

I have a 26.8 straight Elite post and the logo alignment is different on the drive and non-drive sides. I emailed David at Thomson and he said mine is likely an early batch before they developed standards for logo placement. I knew exactly what you were getting at when I saw your photo - for the logos on my post dip into the seat tube on my drive side (while the non-drive side looks perfect); unfortunately there's nothing I can do about it via Thomson.

Correct! I contacted Thomson regarding this issue and this is indeed true.

I asked about the distance (rails to lettering - see ) for the 27.2 Elite, 250mm length (Model #SP-E102) and this was their reply:

The length from the center of the rails to the bottom of the lettering for the 27.2mm x 250mm seatpost is approximately 102mm (4in). That is consistent for every SP-E102, from year to year.

If you are interested, you could probably ask them for the dimensions for the rest of the models as well.
