I have a set of 105 brake levers. Non shifter type. Standard stuff back in the 80's and early 90's.
I'm redoing a Cannondale and went to LBS to get new covers. The ones I have are white{yuck} and they have that gummy texture to them{double yuck}. LBS looked it up and said they don't make them anymore. Said after 5yrs they are no longer available.
My bitch is that other than the gooy covers, these 105's are in perfect working order. I just can't throw them away.
Is there a company that makes replacements? Or is there a way to get rid of the goo. Something thats worked before maybe.
Any advice out there?

Pics would help, but if they are blistered, they are gone. If they are just sticky, try some Dawn in water and a toothbrush. Use a clean paper towel to wipe the residue gunk off. Rinse, repeat as often s necessary. There are no current production hoods that fit them, to my knowledge.

I thank you for the replies. Sorry I don't do pics{yet}. But this does raise the issue of perfectly good parts going to the scrap bin for no reason other than one of the parts returning to its former chemical base.
I will try the Dawn and water. If all else fails, I guess I could call Rivendell for their brake levers. I'm using Dura-Ace bar end shifters. This is another one of those bike parts that I can't seem to throw away. They work perfect.:hello: And I saved extra money to get them.

If your levers are the bl-1055 model you can still get genuine shimano replacement hoods (black or white) for less than $10/pair. It's part number y86c98100. Just google that and the word shimano and you're on your way. I just bought a pair last week.

A right arm offspinner, Rahman was a member of Bangladesh's 1997 ICC Trophy winning side. He became his country's inaugural Test captain when he led Bangladesh on their Test debut, against India in 2000. Rahman took 6 for 132 in India's first innings, including the wickets of Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly.
