For sale is my Kalavinka NJS track frameset. It is a thing of beauty! Specs:

53 squared (530 top tube, 530 seat tube c-t-t)
120 rear spacing
27.0 seatpost
BB: Dura Ace 7400 NJS
HS: Hatta Swan NJS

The story:

I've had this frame for some time, and it went under a full restoration in 2009. The frameset was stripped down to the metal via chemical strip (I didn't want to have it blasted, just a personal choice) and checked for alignment and any wear problems. The frame has NO dents whatsoever, it is straight and dent free under the paint.

The paint is something you just have to see to believe. All finishes are multi-stage automotive paints and clears, starting with a catalyzed primer base, then a fine metallic pewter base. The head tube was painted an ivory white. Then the entire frame received a few coats of clear with silver metalflake mixed in. Then it was wet sanded back down, then the frame decals went on. These were provided by Tanabe-san himself, along with the correct rivets for the head tube badge. I should also add that the downtube decals are original 1st generation Kalavinka decals. They are not reproductions- they came from Tanabe-san's personal collection.

Once the decals were painstakingly applied, the lug details were painted mint green, then the frame was clearcoated again multiple times.

The result. And pictures just do not do this frame justice.

Who did the resto, you ask? I did. I have been a custom painter for many, many years, so it was a pleasure to do the resto on one of my beloved Kalavinkas, especially with Tanabe-san being able to provide me the replacement decals and needed parts.

And why sell? To be honest, I don't ride this bike enough. Heck, I don't have the time to ride enough, period. But my real treasure is my custom Kalavinka, which I had commissioned back in 2007 and is the star of my stable. Although I do love this sparkly madness of NJS steel, I feel that it deserves more ride time. I've ridden it a handful of times since its resto and I can attest, it rides beautifully. But I just don't ride it enough to justify keeping it.

To complete the sale and help you get this going sooner, I am going to include a high polished Sugino Mighty NJS seatpost. And if you need a front brake adapter, I have a spare Kalavinka unit that I would be willing to sell to the new owner.

My price is $1200.00, I will gladly post worldwide at the buyer's expense.

For anyone who's tried to get a custom Kalavinka, you know how much demand there is for one of Tanabe-san's frames and the long wait times (if you can even get in line!) and it's rightfully so. Ask any Kalavinka owner about their frame, be it a pro keirin racer or just a fan of Tanabe-san's work, and you'll see why. I love my custom, and I love this frame as well, but like I said, it needs to be ridden more!

Please do not hesitate to ask any questions.

Thanks,
Jun

A picture of this with wheels could help the guys to check out geometry.

Nice bike you have in there. Good luck with the sale :)

Nice. One of my first track frames was a Kalavinka Super Export in super sparkly black with glitter, I miss it too... good luck with your sale, and btw, what 4x4 monster is in the background of pic #8? Looks like something from Monster Truck Wars ;)

Good looking bike for sure! I wish something similar would show up in a 57cm...

Good idea. Here's one. If I have time maybe I'll build it up with some spares, somehow I never took pics of it complete!

The 4x4 monster is an original, new built Tamiya Bruiser, if you're familiar with RC's. That too (among many other things) is going up for sale to fund my newest "project". Don't worry, I won't list the Bruiser here ;)

Tell me about it! If it was a 57 it would sell overnight, I think. I wish I was taller...

Thanks for the nice comments guys! Hopefully this beauty can find a proper home.

Forgot this.... please dont sell this one to a hipster, will end up with the fork drilled and scratches everywhere just because that shows the character of the bike... to them... :P

Bump...The frame is now on ebay, but at BIN/make offer.

If you or anyone is interested, please don't hesitate to make a fair offer. I just want to see this to go to a good home and see the ride time it deserves!

Thanks!
