Check out the size of Lemond's quads in comparison to Roche and Van der Poel as they stand on the podium at the World Championship.

Yeah. That's the photo. "It's the engine not the bike..." I also like the photo of him winning the Worlds in '89 beating Kelly and a Russian (Konyshev??Sp??)

His position on a bike was also amazing. Look at any photo of him riding. A real natural talent and champion right from the beginning of his career.

And Roche, despite those relatively puny legs, was known throughout his career as a rider that could really roll the big gears. I guess it's like Andrew Coggin always intimates on the topica wattage list, it ain't the size of pistons that count but what they can deliver.
