Nope, you can't. Hubshell is a different length.

You can change the spacing though - to make it road, for example.

A smart-aleck answer as well. You can fit 5 (6?) cogs on a singlespeed hubshell and make a geared setup after a sort.

FWIW, you can make the geared hubs work as single-speed with some spacers and a Shimano-splined cog (like the beautiful CK cogs).
