Acid etching head badges

I'm curious, I've seen some from the past, but how prevalent is acid etching these days in creating custom head badges? I used to manage a company in Portland that did lots of acid etching for custom signage and fine art and head badges would be right up their alley. Brass, copper, stainless, etc... Lots of colorfillng and antiquing techniques would lend themselves to amazing possibilities.
