Max Continental Competition Hop

I bought Campy Bora One wheels and new Conti Competition 22mm sewups. When I mount the sew up on the wheel I get about a 1mm hop around the valve. Maybe when I glue the tire (I skip gluing around the valve hole) the glue will raise the rest of the tire eliminating the hop.

Is there a spec. for hop for Conti Competition tubulars prior to gluing. I checked the wheels without the tires on and there is no hop around the valve holes.

It's normal. Some guys countersink the valve hole on alu rims to minimize this, but I wouldn't do that on your carbon rim. Another trick is to cinch the tire down at the valve hole while the glue dries. I don't think it's possible to ever have it perfectly flat. But really, a 1mm hop is nothing and you won't feel it at all when you ride.
