Left early this morning to get to Moffett Field to see the Shuttle Endeavor Flyover.

Got there @ 7:45am or so and plunked down on a spot and waited for 3 hours for it to make its way to Moffett Field after flying over Sac, Golden Gate Bridge and around Bay Area.

Thought I'd share the pics and video I took on my phone. It was worth the 1 min I got to see it.

It was really kinda sad to know that this is the last shuttle mission. :( I wish I'd made time to go to see one takeoff and was thinking hard about it last year but life, job.. I didn't make it happen. I guess I at least got to see this which was awesome.

Enjoy.

I saw the first shuttle to leave KSC a few months back and it was a pretty awesome sight to behold... I live just north of Cape Canaveral and it's sad to think that something which brought so many advancements to our lives (modern medicine, technology etc.) is no longer... What a shame!

I missed the fly in to LAX, I was off today. But I'm excited to be able to watch the separation from the 747. I work very near there on the south complex of LAX. Crews have been erecting the cranes for the last week or so. Very cool stuff.

If you know Griffith Park, I rode to the top of Trash Truck, and watched it pass only a few hundred feet from the Hollywood Sign, then the observatory.

It was amazing how well the 747 with the shuttle on its back, could maneuver through the Hollywood Hills.

That's American engineering for you, boys.

I wish I'd made time to go to see one takeoff

I was in FLA on business years ago and had VIP admission to an early morning launch. I got up at 3 AM and drove to the cape. The viewing area was amazingly close to the shuttle and I was really looking forward to the launch.

Unfortunately, the launch was scrubbed due to weather. I had to leave that day and never got a chance to go back.

One of my life's big regrets.

One of my colleagues was married to an astronaut who helped build the space station. She invited me to several launches, but they never worked out.

Early one morning when I lived in San Antonio, I happened to look out the window and saw the piggyback taking off and flying a loop around town. It was very cool. Maybe even more so than watching a launch because it looked so improbable.
