Triathletes + 31% max gradient = hilarity!

I'm just gonna say it. I am not the biggest fan or triathletes, nor am I a super elite roadie.

That pavement (if you can even call it that), is NASTY. I'm not sure 'pure' cyclists would do any better.

Beats me why anyone would bring a tribike with aerobars to such a course...
This local triathlon (actually a quadrathlon since there are two bike legs) has been on my wishlist for a while:

About 17.000 feet of total elevation. Just the run has 6000 feet over just 25 k!
The swim takes place in the Thuner See, even in August the water temperature is only around 15°C (60°F).

Debating whether to give it a shot next year...

That was a bunch of cash in bikes and parts slamming into that pavement. No shame in walking that indeed!

Wow, so brutal to watch. Spotted a guy from the old tri club in the video.

Now that looks epic! That is one of my favorite parts of the world. I think this event would be perfect if it were spread out over 4 days. :) Kudos to you if you opt take it on.

I shouldn't bust on the triathletes - no one without the proper gearing is going to get up a climb that averages 25% and has a max pitch of 31%. I occasionally do Brasstown Bald when I ride in North GA and when I have a couple of big climbs in my legs and a low gear of 39X27, I find it hard to muscle my way over the steepest section (which isn't has severe as the the climb in the video).
