I am traveling to Ok City this week, staying downtown. Is it worth taking my travel bike there? Any good routes from downtown?

Yes, you can ride the trails along the Oklahoma River. If you want other than MUT's then you'll have to ride some distance to get to the popular routes. At least one of my friends regularly rides the trails in the evening, but he'll be out of town early in the week. There is a bike store at about 8th and Broadway, just a little N of downtown. It's called Schlegels. Check in there for more info on rides and routes. I live in and work in the N burbs and rarely ride in the evening or downtown. If you have a car that can transport your bike, then proceed to the Oakdale School on Hefner Rd just east of Sooner Rd. There are rides and riders leaving there most every evening from about 5 to 6 pm. Usual route is about 25 to 30 miles depending on available light.
