And yes, I know this is insane. Whatever. If this isn't a safe space for this kind of question, nowhere is.

That's exactly what I needed to see, bro. Thanks so much. By the way, is it winter there yet?

You're such a show-off, Wooly. And no, it's actually better if it's not a carbon frame. Honestly, your pic is perfect. Also, sweet mercy, that bike is absolutely the hottest thing I've ever seen. I have promised -- PROMISED! -- myself that I won't buy any more bikes, but if a Goze Respo shows up in my size, I'm pulling out my checkbook.

Steve, what's your 'Vagen built with? Carbon or alloy bits? And carbon or alloy cages?

Not the best picture or example for that matter, but here's a steel bike built with carbon pieces and some ti cages... (and a sweet ti cassette)

Looking at all of these pics, I think my only mistake was going with a black rather than a silver headset. Oh well, I can always swap that out later.

I think you are making a mistake with stainless cages.

Like this, but now with silver handlebar wrap:

Thanks, Steve. Your gray is greener (at least in the picture as it appears on my monitor) than mine, which is bluer. Regardless, our bikes look remarkably similar, though I have a black headset rather than silver one. And your seatmast looks, well, excited compared to mine.

It depends a lot on the color of the bike.

Maybe not totally what you're looking for, but my recently built Time VXR with a bunch of black alloy bits, save for the cages. (Those are the Elite Ciussi cages btw.)

King Ti cages goes with everything.
I bought some King Ti cages to go on my CSI with an all alloy group and did not like the look - did not match. Returned them and got Arundel stainless - looked much better. Although now might switch to Arundel Mandibles - changing wheels to some black not all silver and with a darker frame I think the black will look better.
