Hot ride weekend

Really hot here in Socal this weekend. 3 hours and 25 miles on singletrack today. Last hour of the ride my garmin showed temps between 105-115F. No issues just had to ride a tad slower. Thank goodness the park has water throughout.

I live in Orange County myself, which got pretty hot as well. I escaped the heat by heading up with friends and family to Big Bear Lake, in the San Bernardino Mountains, for the weekend. It's less than 2 hour drive for me.

Started the day out with an early morning XC MTB ride on the south side of the lake with my buddies. We climbed to 7700+ ft elevation, and temps were in the low 50's.

In the afternoon, went for a spin around town and the lake. Temps were in the low 70's.

Gonna go for another XC MTB ride tomorrow morning (Hanna Flats), then hit up the Octoberfest celebration for a bratwurst lunch : )

At first I thought it was a picture of where I was yesterday that looks just like where I rode except that it was in Marin in the Bay Area :)

Thursday was the group CX ride, it was fun... Friday I got out and rode after work. When the sun starts to set it gets cold, fast.

Sunday Laura got a new bike, a Specialized Epic 29er. Wow that bike is light and I am more than a bit jealous.

We're starting to have the exact opposite problem up here in the northeast. It was 36F when I left the house at 6:15AM to commute to work on the bike.
